We at Alfresco Heaters began looking for a way to heat the outside of our pub in southern Ireland in 2004 when the blanket ban on smoking in the workplace was introduced. Gas heaters proved expensive and ineffective while halogen electrical heaters produced more light than heat and were not adequate. We encountered the infra red system quite by chance during a visit to a restaurant in New Zealand one winter. There was a large number of customers dining outdoors on what was a particularly chilly night. We were absolutely stunned by the heat output of the infra red heaters outside the restaurant and resolved immediately to bring that level of comfort to the Northern Hemisphere.The reaction of our customers, without exception, has been identical to ours on that chilly night in Auckland.
